Fundraising

Why fundraising is critical:

Monocacy Valley Montessori Public Charter School, like other Frederick County public schools, is funded on the basis of student enrollment, but unlike other county schools MVMPCS receives no capital funding for our facility. Following the current charter agreements, we must use our student enrollment funding to pay for our facility. After deducting the rent expense of ~ $233,700 (utilities and maintenance are an additional $86,000) from our FCPS per pupil allocation, the funds available for curriculum and instruction must be supplemented. While we remain committed to providing a quality Montessori program for all students, we need your help to be successful. We continue to rely on the generous support of MVMPCS families and friends.

Fundraising opportunties:

There are many ways you can help fundraise dollars for MMCI, the non-profit organization that holds the charter for MVMPCS. MMCI is a registered 501-c-3 corporation (our Tax ID number is 45-0481461) and donations should be made payable to MMCI. Below is a list of opportunities and events:

  1. Annual Pledge Drive
  2. Silent Auction
  3. Boxtops for Education

1. 2007-08 Annual Pledge Drive

The pledge drive is our most powerful fundraiser. It gives us a steady stream of predictable income, which is critical for planning purposes. The MMCI Pledge Drive goal for the 2007-2008 school year is $32,000 and 100% MMCI member participation. Reporting a high level of participation in giving also assists us when applying for government and private grants. Thanks to all of the familes that pledged!

How will my donation be used:
In May, the MMCI BOT will present the totals earned from the pledge drive, totals from other MMCI fundraisers and options for next year’s spending. The MMCI community is encouraged to join the discussion at or before this meeting. Please consider using this opportunity to share your budget priorities with the BOT. The chart below illustrates MMCI’s expenses from 7/01/07 to 12/31/07 which totaled $38,422 and an additional $13,000 of projected facility expenses.
